Hi, I have bought a TZ10 and the shop had put the card in already for me when I collected it, I have since used the camera and when I took the card out to take off the photographs there were no photos on the card they are being held in the camera because the shop hadn't formatted the card.

Hereby lies the problem for me I cannot see in the instructions how to format the card and does it just need doing just the once, or will it need doing each time you remove it from the camera.

Anyone, thanks in advance

I format mine through Windows Explorer - stick card in a card reader so WE sees it on the menu, right click and Quick Format. Job done!

PS, I quick format it each time after I've downloaded images.

See page 28 of the manual. You probably need to start reding at page 20 to cover the full list of contents of the SETUP menu in order to see exactly where the Format option comes in the list and what it will do.

Also, check to see if there's a setting somewhere that tells the camera to save to internal memory rather than to the card.

Thanks very much and I'm really surprised that I missed that as I have read the manual back and forth several times.

No it's not faulty as when it first happened I tried another new card and it comes up with the same, but as you say I was very surprised as I have never had this with my Canon cameras for years, different eh ?
