Cant find a decent Leon FR or Golf GT TDI what else.........

Should we be considering?

It has to be something reasonably interesting, 5 doors, cheap to run and cost under 8k to buy an example with under 50k on the clock?

We are open to suggestions! I really would like the old shape Leon FR or FR+ but we just cant find one thats right. Golfs are a we bit over budget for a nice example.

PS we are in god's county (Yorkshire)

Fiat Bravo 1.9Mjet 150 you should be able to pick up an 07/08 car with average mls for £8k
The new Bravo is a very nice car well made good spec and with the "150" engine pretty quick(but also good on fuel)

Wy not a TDI Octavia? If you get a top spec (L&K) model it is loaded with toys (cruise, leather, xenons) and if you get the 130bhp engine will have a 6 speed box.

Not sure how low Mk 2 Octavias come pricewise, but plenty of nice Mk 1's about.

hi fridayp, i dont know where your based in yorkshire, but about 7 weeks ago eddie wricht in shorpe had a black fr in on flappy paddle. got my FR 170 with full BTCC from there and had a good experiance with them. no you cant have mine.

Astra Sri 150 CDTi, love mine, alfa/fiat engine is great, handles well and interior is better than a focus, id say golf quality. Octavia would be second choice

Shame its all over by 4000rpm meaning once its through the gearbox most of that monster torque isnt on the tarmac.

I had a drive of a leon and TBH I was really impressed with it. The powerband is ultra wide and it pulls from no revs at all. Having had a few turbocharged petrol cars you have to wonder what the point is really when you can have the same sensation of speed from a diesel lump.

Obviously the answer is that it sounds like a tractor

Well I'm still on the lookout. We decided to up the budget a bit so that's given us a few more to look at. I've found a golf gttdi at a dealer but they don't budge on the price at all. 55 plate with 49k on the clock for 9k does that sound about right?

Would still like a leon FR really but people ain't budging on prices. Don't they know there's a crisis on?

Did you see the T180 i posted above? Quicker than the VAG units, newer, nearly half the miles

I think it's a good alternative unless you go ford.
