Yup.

Agree with you. If they were to win it, don't think they'd stop going on about it, have you heard the end of 1966 yet?

i am aware of this, i currently live in england so its shoved down my throat on a daily basis with st george flags on almost every second car. I'm not buying the twix or mars cause the adverts say it means we are supporting them, and i'm not i've bet some money against them!

Coke have done it the right way and are supporting the world cup not just england.

Sky did it right when they said "5 million supporting any team apart from england" in their advert.
As i said sour grapes

bks.

The media makes it out like the but the average England Supporter hopes their team can do it, and gets behind them. If the England team didn't think they could win it, they shouldn't be at the competition.

England are not st, they are currently in the top 32 international teams in the world with an outstanding qualifying campaign behind them.

Get over the media and you might actually enjoy a decent game of football this summer.

would be sour grapes if i gave a st about scotland's football, but they are failures everyone knows that.

I don't think supporting the team of the country you are from, and in, is a superiority 'complex' is it? If anything your attitude displays an inferiority complex.

surprise, surprise, there are more English people than Scots. I think we'd all be happier if you lot sorted out real independence.

It's not the average England supporter its the consatnt English media "why should everyone else bother turning up attitude" that get on your nerves

Even during games between other team it will be when we meet them in round xx when neither are through yet

It improve no end when they are out

Must admit though am in France during World Cuo and Could if result went the right way I think an England France Quarter or Semi could be possible

Now that could be fun Allez Les Bleus

Easy boys, its not really worth the agro.

You all have your valid points, with regards to the cars and flags etc, im old enough to remember the last scottish campaign and can clearly remember flags, kilts face paints etc everywhere you looked.

Undoubtedly there are english who dont like scots and who love to boast but I honestly beleive that the vast majority of people don the flags etc for the sense of occasion. Its the summer, there will be their national team playing some decent football, its bbq season and it all adds up to a few good nights in/out and a good party atmosphere.

As for consumerism, remember theres more people in london alone than in the whole of scotland (and even then a sizeable portion of english or people with no feelings either way, live up here). So mars may alienate a few percent of the scots population but theyl attract a dam site more than they lose. Again it all adds to the party atmosphere down there.

Im as scottish as they come and I do get p*ssed off at the english medias we are great and we won in 66. But I dont feel that I can love sky's season long coverage of the premier league, watch and enjoy the likes of lampard/terry etc every staurday on soccer am and then the games and now for the few weeks want them to get pumped. Id rather watch that little portugese f*ck puppet ronaldo or the whole french team get pumped as these are the guys I dont like.

Heres hoping a british team does well (although maybe not win) and that the media dont overdo it. As for us scots, whoever you want to win/lose, lets enjoy the footie, get the bbq out and keep a spare sunday for the next run bbq myself and kenny will be on with,

cheers
