New Zealand trip
Discussion
Hi folks, looking at making a trip to NZ next year, possibly for a long stay, looking for some info if you have any?
Flights - Is it worth booking an open ended return or just stick to singles? How much are we looking at, roughly? A grand?
Jobs - What's the economic situation like out there, is it worth going for trade specific jobs or simply stick to some bar work etc? We've got a mechanic, motor trade retailer and a teacher.
Cost of living - assuming there is a fair range dependant on where we are staying, as with anywhere? Are there any strange rules or the likes to renting places?
Must see's - We'll be plenty active and happy to travel around so what can't we miss?
Cheers in advance,
Olie

How old are you? If under 30 you can get a working holifay visa, if over 30 you aren't really going to be ablt to go there and work at all.
With any country you are going to get less hassle if you have a return ticket, few places are too keen on letting you in if you haven't got a ticket that allows you to leave.

I'm not a great expert from memory if over 30 you can go for a max of 6 months if you have a return ticket and 1000 nzd a month to live on, but you can't work. But do some reading on nz government sites, they'll be more accurate than me!
It all depends on what funds you can prove to have access to. I doubt that the NZ government would turn away someone whose 45, for example, bringing with them £500k or whatever and a skill that is in demand.Silver993tt said:

Entry must be made within 12 months from the visa being granted and when you arrive in NZ it expires 1 year later. I don't think that's true if you can support yourself and I gave an example.
