Yes, its another neighbour problem thread. My piss is very fizzing to say the least. For the past number of years we have had to put up with our neighbours fking dogs barking, their back door, backs on to mine at the side and my bedroom is very near their fence. This fking dog just barks constantly at all hours during the day and night. I live in a very nice area and all the people around me are pissed off with it. Its obviously worse in the summer (windows open at night, in the garden during the day). Have tried sending polite notes, people have even called the environmental health with no effect. They have went through about 5 dogs in the past few years and the latest is a large boxer that goes off like a foghorn. The poor things are kept outside 24/7 and no doubt the others have died of exposure or the like.

Last night, lying in bed, windows open and this fking mutt barking like a looney and I had had enough. Got up and went round to their door. Found that they where in the kitchen with the back door open quite happy to let the dog bark away. Politely said to the older guy that came to the door that the dog was barking and asked if he could keep it quiet. He apologised and said he would bring it in. RESULT, was walking away when his daughter came running out and started mouthing off big time. She started raving that I was the only one to complain and that dogs are like children and its natural for them to bark all the time. She went on to suggest that I should move if I don't like it, that its an Asian thing that dogs should be left outside and not in the house etc etc. Obviously this got my goat up and I mouthed back. I told her I would take action, call my lawyers about it etc, etc. Eventually I had enough and walked away.

Back in the house, all quiet, excellent. About an hour later I get a chap at the door and open it to find two policemen standing there, invite them in and I am promptly charged with breach of the peace. Seems they had no choice as there where two witnesses and I had none. Told that I should have went straight to them with the problem. Once I had told him my side he was very understanding. I also told him that all the various advice sites state that you should confront your neighbour. Seems not so according to him the police. So now I have a charge against me. The officer did say that he would be recommending that no action is taken to the fiscal but he had no choice but to press the charge.

So this morning I am spitting nails, these bds are lunatics as well, they own half the shops in my town but are forever fighting with each other and one of the sons is already banged up for all sorts of crimes so they obviously know how to play the system. Will now take the police advice and complain to them every time the dog barks and have my neighbours do the same. According to him this will all be noted and after so many complaints they can take out an ASBO against them. Seems like a waste of police time to to me but the system seems to very very screwed anyway.

Rant over, any suggestions for other courses of action always welcome smile

Perhaps the dogs suddenly find a gap in the fence and escape/run away, to be caught and re-homed and end up having a happier life.

I love dogs but if one was causing me to feel like you do in my home I'd either shoot the fker or throw a steak over the fence laced with poison.

Sorted.

Only joking.

What a shi**y position to be in, really feel for you. Is there any chance of getting the RSPCA involved as, it would seem the dogs are being treated badly.

Wow..what a crappy situation to be in....really feel for you.

Although it takes time, may be worth keeping a nuisance diary, log all times the dog is barking, note when and who you complain to about it. After two weeks go to the council/Environmental health dept and demand they do something about it.

Failing that...ram the bloody dog through their back doors....should give them something to think about. biggrin

Environmental Health Dept - keep a log of each time you hear the dog park, then provide them with that record.

Sorry to hear this, dogs bark because they are stressed, and this can also really drag down an area.

Good advice given, keep a log of times dog barks, recordings, (back off so they think you have been warned off and they can carry on as they like), then get down to the Council EH department to report the nuisance. Also speak to your councillor and if any other neighbours are complaining ask them to complain, as apart from quality of life, this will also affect house prices,

By the sound of what you say, they will also try the 'ethnic minority' thing, so do nothing more with them face to face, get statutory bodies to deal with them directly. (The cr*p about it being an Asian thing to keep the dog outside, no, it's actually a scum ignoramus thing, and if the dog doesn't have safe comfortable accommodation it's also animal cruelty, that would look good in the local paper wouldn't it!)

Also contact the SSPCA for advice, it might be worth mentioning they seem to have had an unusually high turnover of dogs, and that the dogs are kept outside.

I had to go through this once with scum neighbours, it took a while, but they got banned from keeping animals so a result in the end!

Thanks for advice, surprised that the police said to contact them each time though, was under the impression that they never got involved in this type of thing.

As a measure of your worth in society we need to know how many directorships you hold, if you don't hold any i'm afraid we wont be able to help you.
