Another PHer's TVR written off this weekend...
Discussion
Just got back from salvaging my ICE at the On-Time Recovery pound in Shoreham.
Was shocked to see a Cerbera looking very sorry for itself in the yard, sadly belonging to another PHer (whose ID I will not reveal without their say-so).
Thankfully no injuries - apparently the owner lost the back on a roundabout and put it heavily into the kerb. As the owner collected his ICE this am, I can only assume it's beyond repair - the wheels we shattered, bonnet was off and the recovery chap pointed out apparent chassis damage in the engine bay.

Sorry to hear the shocking news Julian. Was looking forward to seeing you again yesterday.
I know it's been said before, but it's only a car it's a shame it’s a TVR!
The main thing is, you'll get to drive another one.
Hope you get it all sorted soon.
Al.
There but for the grace of god go most of us from time to time!

Thanks Al,
just Sod's Law really. Literally my last drive and I trash it. I feel physically fine today, which is a testament to the front/rear strength of the car. I'm also blimmin' relieved it was a low speed off. Looking through all the pictures I took, I can imagine the consequences of doing a similar thing at speed, and feel fortunate that it was the front/rear rather than a side impact - Those trees only had small blemishes!

Sorry to here it Julian. But it's a lesson to us all, it might be quite dry a lot of the time, but it's still often cold and when it isn't there's and awful lot of salt and other loose material around.
Keep out of the red and in the black, if you drop your Tiv you won't get it back. ...or something

Cold, wet road, cold tyres, fraction too much throttle with the wheel turned... bad call on my part - sadly has and will happen to others. julianhj said:

Yes....one of our guys had a side impact with a tree in his Cerb.
That was low speed too, no other cars around......wrote off the car and ...well...lets just say that he will be driving an automatic from now on....
I'm glad you walked away.
I know it's easy to say it's only a car....but it's damn heartbreaking all the same.

Sorry to hear about your woes. Seems like a bad time for TVRs all round.
Marcus
Another year for insurance premium increases then?
From what I hear there aren't many companies left quoting sensible premiums for Tuscans. It'll be interesting to see what happens to mine given I wasn't driving the car.
Spinning (or half spinning) on the throttle is unforgivable!
No wonder insurance is so high - maybe you can learn to drive before taking ownership of such a car.
Now I can understand why Mercedes Benz don't allow their stability program to be total turned off. Its to look after people like you.

Troll - or do you just like pissing people off who
have just written off their pride and joy and who are still shaken up by the accident.
Take it from me - a TVR steps out so fast sometimes that at times you need the speed of response of Michael Schumacker !
