Steering Lower UJ

Hi,

I need to replace this as play is excessive. I thought I would be OK for MoT, but not sure now/

Just had a the wheel off and it looks accesible - just.

Any pointers as to the best way of removing and replacing?

The more access you have to it the easier it will be to change it.

Take off the wheel and the panel between the engine and the rad.

Loosen the top UJ and remove the bolt.

That'll allow you to slide the top one upwards and give you just enough space to do the job.

If you are renewing the bolt make sure it isn't too long as it'll foul as you turn the steering wheel (check it before putting everything back together).

Now need to take it off to see which type I need as I can't work out the shaft dia.

i had to loosen rack. not to hard though. you do need to do bolts up really tight. if you've still got play bolts need to be tighter as i found out
