Before starting the engine in the car it's a good idea to get all the oil system, accusump, cooler etc filled with oil. To do this use a primer tool fitted to an electric drill and inserted in place of the dizzy.
Run the drill and watch for the pressure to come up on the Accusump.

Also make sure you consult the shopping list boldly displayed on a 4 foot white board on the garage wall.

Item 1. Buy oil filter.

Damned expensive stuff that Mobil 1 running all over the garage floor.

Think i'll go watch the telly.

Bummer. Some nights are like that I find...

How's the rest of the build going? Have you got a lot to do after you get the engine running or is it all quite close?

Just got insurance to sort out on my beast and a lot of polishing and scratch removing to do before SVA on the 24th.

OUCH! Sorry to here that mate. Just an observation though! I know it's your pride & joy and you want to do whats best for her. I have heard that Mobile 1 may be a bit wishy washy!

Thick gloop is bestest for Chevys so I'm told.

Any how, try some sawdust on the floor, works a treat

Once I have run the engine in the car I will apply for SVA. Had too many set backs to be confident to go for it.
Almost all done, little bits like passenger foot rest, interior lights, buzzer for engine cover warning etc.
Next fun bit will be getting it off the dolly.

Know what you mean. Having an incentive to get things done is one thing but too much pressure and it can just get like the day job...only we're paying for it!

Bought a filter and some more oil this evening. Fitted filter and topped up the oil with the remainder of the oil bought previously. Primed the engine and got 50psi with the electric drill. Went to do final top up and found I’ve picked up 0W-40 rather than 15W-50 so job stopped again.
One step forward two back.
