Just picked up my Bianchi Via Nirone 105 this week (my first roadie!) and have been cycling in all last week.

I have a problem: the insides of my hands are aching when holding onto the hoods (between my thumb and finger) and really putting me off my ride!

Any tips? Also, how embarassing is 22 mins for a 4.5 mile ride? smile

my commute is 4.5 miles and I generally do it in 15 mins flat.

Buy some decent gel gloves and check the handlebars are correctly adjusted. When I'm cycling in London, if it seems inevitable that I am about to go through a pothole or over a deep drain (which should obviously be avoided if possible) try and keep light hands on the handlebars so it doesn't crack your wrists.
