I was told today -
"Dat Lowtus ees sick"

I said thank you but I have no idea what he said and if it was a compliment. Any ideas?

American? 'Sick' is usually translated as 'awesome' - and no, I don't get it either.....

As I understand it (I'm 44 with a ten year old son) 'Sick' is the 1980's 'Bad' equivalent (as in good) das the wordz on de street anywazee.

So, it seems your Lotus is very nice, and they thought they would voice their feelings regarding it's loveliness! SICK!

He's a mechanical genius, just by looking at your car he has identified it has a mechanical problem. Get it in to the garage for a check over immediately.

At least you didn't get asked this, "Your Lotus, is it a Ferrari?"
All I could come up with from my addled brain was "No, it's not"
She says, "Shame... it does look nice though, so niiiiiice"

Once got followed into a petrol station where the bloke had to wait a good few minutes while I payed for the petrol. When I returned to the Liz he said, "I just had to stop and tell you that [pointing at my car] is probably the ugliest car I have ever seen." and then drove off.

I returned home and cried myself to sleep in the knowledge that I obviously know nothing about car aesthetics and obviously neither did Lotus. biggrin
