Feeling iffy about going in a car with tent for a roof?
Discussion
Up here, in deepest darkest Lincs, it got a bit wet today.
Looking at the forecast, we could be due for some heavy rain during the Le Mans meeting.
Not that I think I'm a softy or anything, but having seen a good friend struggle in his Cobra with no roof and a wiper falling off (drivers side) two years ago on the trip to Le Mans, I started to think hard about taking the Cobra this year.
Must say that it was funny seeing two blokes driving into Le Mans in a Cobra holding two umbrellas though!
Anyway, I took mine out during a downpour with the roof and sidescreens on and apart from when I hit a big puddle which drowned the ignition and caused water to come in at the top of the screen, it wasn't too bad.
Traction was better than I thought also, so I'll be leaving the roof on and starting the trip like that. At least the decision saves me from repacking into another car.
Am I the only fool having these worries?

my tiger has no roof or windscreen and I would be doing the 400 mile trip to le man is a second with rain or not if it was not for bloody problems with the engine at the last min. Kit cars stickered up and ready to rool apart from problems I don't think I can sort before Tues which is a b

Thanks, you're right, I'm now going to take off the roof and burn it!
Sorry your car's not fit at present and I guess as its a Tiger, you are doing it in a more stripped out style than me.
830 miles round trip will be a real test of my manhood though especially without the tent!
It will be interesting to see customers reactions when I visit them looking like a drowned rat on Tuesday on my way to Pompy.
