Aircon wobblies
Discussion
I have two aircon problems, both present for a couple of years or more...
Mondeo 2004 130TDCi...
(1) This happens all the time.
Cold enough on the move (a little less than ideal), but starts blowing hot when the car is stationary.
(2) This has only happened a few times.
Very hot day. Aircon on coldest setting, with fan up to max. Engine temperature gauge rises off the scale, then drops back when aircon is turned off.
This has happened on a brisk cross country run and also in heavy traffic with much stopping and starting.
Any ideas about what's amiss here, gentlemen...?

Might have a faulty fan which is why your aircon works when moving and why your engine overheats stationary on a hot day when the aircon rad is also hot.
My wife's Golf had similar issues except the overheating coolant temperature. Problem with that was a dodgy connection which stopped the low speed fans working when the aircon was one, but the high speed fans worked when the coolant got hot enough to trigger.

1) Air con pusher/aux fan or whatever it's called for Mondeo's - had the same thing on me beamer last week. For mine, the test procedure was check the fuse, then check any relays, then check the fan itself by unplugging it and applying some 12v to it. Look on Ford forums for your model's info I guess, or off to a garage to investigate/fix?
2) Dunno how Mondeo's work like that - seeing as it's related to duff air con performance maybe fixing 1 will sort 2 out?
