After some adivse, my Dad has a Praktica LTL Camera he wants to get rid of, but we have no idea how much it is worth. Its this one http://www.praktica-users.com/cams/l/ltl.html

Its has The Original Manual and Carry Case plus and shoe mounted Solid State Speedtron III Flash.

Any Ideas for a price? I've done a search and I think about £40 - £50 ??

Thanks for any help.

Search on eBay - you'll find a few, but only one has a bid, for £4.99.

It rather redefines optimism doesn't it smile

I hear that photography students are required to use film cameras for coursework (aye, make 'em sweat like I had to) but if they can't run to £4.99 then it's...

Intense optimism more like!

Considering that I traded in my old (and immaculate) Canon AE1, AV1, 50mm, 28mm and 100-200 for about £60, the chances of that (and lets be honest) nasty in comparison Praktica being worth anything more than a beer token are remote.

I'd heard exactly the same thing about photography students - that way they can't cheat in photoshop.

They're not worth a great deal tbh. I've got one that used to belong to my great grandfather along with a Canon AV-1 and they're both still capable of taking a decent shot. It's a pretty hefty piece of kit isn't it! I'd keep it, get hold of some film and have a bit of fun with it, there's definately a satisfaction in playing around with these old cameras that missing with digital.

A mix of shots taken with Praktica and Canon:

WOW, you have some great pictures there.

I think your right though, I may get some 35m film and see if I can get some good picks of the kids with it!!

I'll have a play, may even post up some of the pictures... Now How much is 35m film these days! Of for a quick look.

Thanks!

I've found this place to be pretty cheap for film:

http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=...

I've had most of those shots developed in the local Jessops, I just get the negs done and scanned straight to disc for £6.50 (for 1 hour dev) and you get a 'free' roll of film back, which is nice.

Unfortunately it seems they've stopped doing in-house B&W and I've just started to get into Fuji Neopan, it'll take a week to get the negs back from now on frown
