Most tyre blurb bangs on about performance, but I want tyres for a quiet comfortable ride, and preferably not directional so I can swap them round to even out wear. Very boring I know but I have a TVR for the entertaining stuff.

I'm not impressed with Pirelli - expensive and wear out quickly. Comfort and durability is more important than brand. Any suggestions folks?

BTW they need to be 235/50 R17 or close to it (S-Type). Thanks all smile

M. Michelin is quite good at tyres. Not cheap but they work.

UK roads are a joke, whatever tyre you use.

Michelin Primacy.....on a Lexus it is like driving in space....no noise whatsoever.

I think the new Vredestein Ultrac Cento may be worth a look. It's designed specifically to be quiet and passes the upcoming 2012 tyre noise regs.

Indeed - got off the Eurotunnel in Calais a couple of weeks ago, roof down and onto the autoroute and it was WTF?! Tyres (everyones) were so quiet - just a hiss off the tyres, not the roar I'm accustomed to.

Having said that there is probably a reason - such as crap drainage/wet grip/longevity.

Yeah these are supposed to be pretty quiet, although I couldn't find any reviews about them.

Don't Yokohama do a "dB" range of their AVS tyres that are supposed to be quiet too?

I replaced Vredestein Hi-Tracs with Bridgestone Turanza ER300 - the ER300 are very quiet. Quieter than the Hankook Ventus Prime I also have on the car.
