We're staying in Honfleur on Sunday night on the way home from Le Mans. Any restaurant recommendations? Seafood would be our preferred choice but don't really mind anything.

Thanks.

not sure of my North south east west etc but last time i was there (and for bette rpart of about 10 years before) the first restaurant on your right, on the right hand side of the inner harbour, as you look towards the lock, does / did a fruits de mer to die for (in fact there is a picture of me and SWMBO troughing down to one of theirs in our hallway at home hehe )

ETA - where the F of Honfleur is

Happy memories of Honfleur, we once tried to waterski out of the Basen there when the lock was on freeflow .... not one of our smarter ideas!!!

Thanks John.

Richard had to do a last minute trip to Singapore last week & was going to try & catch up with you for a beer and some GP reminiscences! But it was literally a flying visit, he didn't get there til Tues evening & left on Friday so time just ran out!

Honfleur is a fantastic place. Many of the restaurants around the harbour are very, very good indeed. I think I know the place that John was talking about & it is excellent

My wife and I are going to Honfleur for a few days at the end of the month. Any more restaurant recommendations? Also any D-Day museums worth sidetracking for on the way from/to Calais?

No the A5 is Richards daily drive.

We tried to blag some free hostility from Audi at Le Mans this year
given how much money they've had off us in the past couple of years. (I know one of the A5's was paid for by the insurance co but it was still money for Audi!)

They were very willing to accomodate us if we gave them another £2000!

Decided we'll stick to a warm beer & a packet of peanuts in the tent!!smile

Still got the Porker?

We go to Honfleur quite regularly, and have found that the place we go back to each time is l'homme de bois. Good food, good atmosphere & doesn't have the tourist prices of places around the old (vieux) port.

At the old port I've had one each of the best & the worst meals of my life at Le Vieux Honfleur (both very expensive). I've also been given a dose of the squits by the muscles at a place on the opposite side - don't remember the name but it's a cafe/restaraunt during the day & a pub by night, next to the ice cream stall by the lavs/gatehouse, has red awnings - but they do a great crepe complete for brekkie! L'ascot on the same side was good & we would've gone back but it seems to shut outside of high season?

Beware anywhere that looks like it caters for the cruise ship clientel as they won't give a stuff about you 'cos they'll assume you're off to another port tomorrow.

Yes thanks everyone, I will do the same.

I'm really looking forward to Honfleur, almost if not as much as Le Mans! (I'll probably be shot down in flames for saying that!!) smile
