19m is nothing compared to the amount of aid we provide to India and China. I think aid for India was 1bn which is nice as we seem to be funding their space programme and for them to become a nuclear power.
Having spent 3 months working there last year , I think they would be better off finishing all the 1/2 finished buildings in Mumbai.

You do know that 'aid' to China and India are effectively 'kickbacks' and bribes?

Look at the increase in bilateral trade between us and these two countries over the last few years and you'll find even a billion to India is money well spent.

You could compare it to the 'aid' we gave to the Saudi princes in exchange for a large BAE contract.

Yes, but one thing we are not cutting back on is overseas aid (for some inexplicable reason).

Y'know when you read a thread title really quickly?

And wonder for a split second why a washed-up ex-footballer is getting £19m from the government?

No? Just me then...... paperbag

hehe

I was screaming at the Computer;

"He'll just spend it all on drink!"

Though, that would still be better than giving it to the palestinians.

At least giving it to 'Gaza' will help out our economy biggrin And with that amount who knows....maybe it'll kick start the struggling Pub industry rofl

(Seriously though, hope he's well......would hate to see him go the way that Best did)

because it's not really aid as such... more like buisness dealings to "grease the wheels" for british companies etc

this actually helps our economy a lot

I understand that, but how does giving £19m to Gaza "grease the wheels" for British companies?

What trade do we do with Gaza?

Whilst in the main I agree with your point there are exceptions - and I seriously hope that there is a clear cost/beneft undertaken for each "donation"..

He deserves it though, that goal against Scotland was worth £19m on its own. The government will get it all back through spirit duty anyway.

They might do, but then the 'aid' would dry up, one would imagine.
