I am interested in buying a Cooper S. Having been to view a couple yesterday the dealer was trying to persuade me into a buying on a PCP rather than outright. I initially went to view a 2007 car with the plan of buying it outright. The dealer suggested that with mini prices holding so well the PCP deal was most sensible?! The positive being i hold onto my lump sum, which could be invested. He suggested that 80% of new mini buyers purchase their cars this way due to the good deal that they can offer. ANy advice would be much appreciated!

Buy it with cash.

Unless your going to get the PCP at a rate lower than you could currently get in a risk free savings account then the dealer is talking out of his arse.

All he's trying to do is sell you another product for which he may well be on commission.

80% of owners purchase cars on finance because that is the only way they can afford them. Alot of people don't have the money to buy a car outright, period or at their disposal.

The salesman makes money on flogging finance as well as the car. Of course he is going to push it.
