As per title really - all the regular movie channels are broadcast in 5.1 sound, as is a lot of the HD content now.

We've bought a few box office films over the last few weeks, but they've all been broadcast in lowly stereo frown We haven't tried Box Office HD, but the choice of films & start times on those couple of channels is very restricted.

Why? Why? mad

Not sure about box office but have you connected the audio up by optical as i believe its the only way to get 5.1 from sky boxes.

They dont broadcast 5.1 on box office if your thinking maybe its a fault. Maybe its a bandwith restriction no 5.1= more space for multistart.

Yeah, I'm on HD with optical out too. I'll try a Box Office HD film this weekend and see if they get upgraded to 5.1 sound.

You won't be able to get the HD audio via the optical out. frown For that, you'd need to connect via HDMI.

The optical out is just for the audio. When connecting to the TV with HDMI you still need to connect an optical to your surround decoder for 5.1, sky only sends stereo down the HDMI they dont use HD audio.
