maney miles Sporty diesel hatch mpg

I got 43mpg from my Astra Sporthatch 1.9-150, remapped to 200hp. 0-60 in sub-8, top speed over 141mph.
I got 44mpg from my Lancer diesel (140hp), remapped to 170hp. Not as quick top speed as the Astra, but off the line was similar. Liked the car a lot, but suspension was like driving with scaffold poles as shocks.

I'm just about to change my Leon FR diesel for a new Octy vRS due to a second child coming. The Leon has been a fantastic car for all it's 90k miles I have racked up in it. Also not since my Mini Cooper have I had the desire to get into a car on a sunny Sunday to go for a spin, especially with it being a company car!
Interior is cack, no question but I have enjoyed my time with it

It is however a 5 door but looks hatchback enough with it's Alfa hidden rear handles

I have had to fall back to an Accord CDTI, 2.2 does 46/7 at 80-85 and heavy right foot(air con off), never below 35 even in mega slow town work
MIssus has 1.9 Astra TD ( 57 plate) thats currently averaging < 20 mpg around town (according to offcial figs, should be 29)
Teh Astra is a s
t hole to drive, the Honda almost pleasureable ( I come from 155 TS, Saab 9000, V70T5 and A8 4.2 QS ) its never going to be a tarmac ripper but generally its OK adn mappable to 180 for 200 notes

Same engine as the early GTI 130 PD's
It rarely does less than 50mpg in normal driving

Sold my 54 plate e46M3 last year now have a Diesel Almera!! Only bought last week.
I am toying with the idea of a new Skoda Octavia VRS 170 PDI, but only as I can get a massive discount on a brand new one, I mean less than 16K!!
I bought a Fabia VRS new and remapped it to about 190bhp, I really regret selling it.
My average MPG in a remapped VRS Fabia on motorway runs was 46MPG, and that wasnt hanging around!!

What!?They replaced the EGR about 12 months ago and its never run right since, even motorway cruising at 75 only gives 42-45 and she isn't heavy footed at all. The heater takes > 30 mins to warm up and compared to the Honda I have the power is like driving a 2 stroke 250 with a powerband about as wide as a fly's nadger.
apart from that its full of blind spots, the seats are rubbish ( I have a broken back and can't get comfy in it at all), the paint is soft as butter and teh interior plastics are cheap and nasty. Worst bit is its listed at 19545 with 189 CO2 so costs her 5500 on tax. The new Astra 2.0d saloon would be 5000 and the 1.6 petrol VVT is 3450. Hopefully they will let her get teh 1.6 VVT when its up for renewal in Jan.

I got similar on the motorway with my 1.9 Astra (it was a 55 plater 150hp Design, mapped to 200hp). Round town didn't reduce the fuel economy by much at all, certainly not sub 20's.apart from that its full of blind spots, the seats are rubbish ( I have a broken back and can't get comfy in it at all), the paint is soft as butter and teh interior plastics are cheap and nasty. Agreed about the seats, lack of vision, crap paint. Some mug paid £22k for mine when it was new. I got it 2 years old for £8k. Only kept it for 8 months, couldn't hack it at all. The 1.8 Vectra SRI was a huge upgrade, much, much better car.
