M3 v 335d

sorry to disappoint those hoping for a re-run of the performance debate, but this is a slightly different question!

and for the record I am aware that performance wise they are very different cars!

the question I have is rather mundane actually.... can the M3 manage a roof box as heavy as the 335d? I see the M3 has the same roof mounting points but wondered if the carbon roof affects the weight limit? The carbon seems to be limited to the centre section and I assume the outer edges are the same as the 335d (i.e. metal)?

E92 - in case people are wondering and does anyone know if the BMW roof mounts themselves fit both cars.

They will be exactly the same, I would imagine that the carbon roof could probably take more weight than a thin sheet of steel anyway, but it is nothing to do with the mount points.
