As a offshoot from the 2 threads on the MMuGW.

I attended my EAGs meeting Sunday 6th in the evening, I viewed this meeting with some trepidation, I was 1 voice in 9 and knew the task ahead to be 'hard'.

Background, there are 9 of us on the steering committee, we range across the social bands. I thought hard before going and thought that at best I might get a bit of support from 1 other member but expected that support to be half-hearted.

Co2 was the second matter to be discussed, the first was what to do about an upgrade to the local dump taking toxic materials, we're ag'in it, no contention, action agreed.

Then I started and to say that I was feeling like the bd offspring of Judas and Doubting Thomas is to place it about right, I was about 10 minutes in and paused, to give out some information sheets [much gleaned from here at root], when the person I hoped might be a possible half-hearted ally spoke, what he said floored me, In summary he had been thinking the same for a few months and was going to resign that day, being unable to support our stand on Co2, but he was no longer going to, he then [eloquently, I thought] without notes launched into pretty much the same reasoning as myself and he too had done the research that I too had done and ended with a memorable killer statement "... this didn't slip under our radar, we have for years switched off our radar" he stopped and folded his arms, I took the ball and ran with it.

We have a very strong left-leaning political element to our group and it was from this little group of 3 that I expected to be cross-questioned to hardest. They had nothing, they weren't silent, but they were not prepared for this and were out of their depth after a few minutes I gain another supporter, again from some-one I could never have believed, ex--head mistress, well read and well thought of and damn me if she hadn't been thinking the Co2 thing was not right! I'm in charge of finance, she is in charge of Outward Policy, my initial supporter has a reputation of being the groups 'intellectual' he is 'something' at a Government Laboratory.

The matter was agreed to be discussed again today, I have just returned from that second meeting.

At this afternoons meeting the sole subject was Co2 and AGW, it was very heated, our own little bit of Global warming you might say.

Before we started on debate and resolution we each made a statement on where we stood........ from a 'lone voice' I had the support of 5 of the 8, the greatest shock was that 1 of the 3 'politicos' was with me on this, Margaret [school ma'am'] simply stated that we were in a majority of actually 6 to 9 as she was in the procamp too and as 'chairman' [she is not politically correct at all] she simply stated that we are to change direction on Co2 and she will tonight write to our Association telling them that we cannot any longer lend our support to anything coming down the line this year on this without it passing the 'prof' and me! No money is going 'upline' on this either and all resources previously ear-marked is to be re-distributed.

At that the 2 politicos resigned, then reconsidered, stayed but wanted all the information I had [I had brought this time a single bundle of about 250 pages and gave it them, the Prof [god bless him] then produced out of his satchel [yes really, a bloody satchel!] a mass of stuff he'd been working on for the last few months his own hand written calcs, the works!

I'm back and I'm astounded still, from a few months agos' perspective what has happened is unthinkable, Margaret is returning all the "ACT On" stuff this week along with our letter.

She closed the meeting saying that she is going to copy in the letter all the 14 EAGs we/she have/has contact with on this matter and for them to contact the Prof and me for any questions to be answered.

We are the second biggest and definitely by consensus [dreadful, devalued term now] the most effective EAG in this loose association. We matter, not world changing, not even country changing, but we have weight.

We will now be able to spend more time on the Toxic dump now, that is a real environmental issue, not some faked up, polished lie, it's real, it's a concern, we will stop it until we get a proper method for breaking down the material safely in safe quantities.

I would like to say thankyou to all who have explained patiently and pointed me in the right direction over the last couple of months and that's everyone, stalwarts the lot of you!

Well done PP.

The sooneer people realise that the True environmeental issues are being missed because of this fallacy, the better!

It's nice to hear that there are still people willing to question what they are told, and actually find stuff out for themselves.

Maybe common sense is not dead....maybe smile

Outstanding work PP, hopefully the other groups will at the very listen to you all and come to their own correct conclusions. then is your group in a position to target other organisations/groups?

Best of luck and very well done, have a virtual beer on me. winkbeer, in fact have a whole evening, on the lash on me (virtually of course) beerbeerbeerbeerbeerbeerbeerbeerlaugh

Fantastic work.

"The longest journey begins with a single step"

Most telling from your comments, for me, was that the opposition (or perhaps just lack of support), which you expected, failed to materialise. This echoes my own experience with friends & colleagues.

Absolutely astounding, just goes to show what having the power of your own convictions does to the perceived thinking of the day.

Perhaps with time this stuff can be put to rest and what resources may be left after the squanderfest is corrected can be redeployed to make some asting impact on "real" environmental issues!!
Yes - congratulations. The real environment has been a victim too long, lies and thievery from the AGW crowd are one thing; but the real impact on environmental pollution is another, as evidenced by billions of dollars of CO2 money bypassing safetly and inspection of all deap sea oil drilling entirely.

Everyone has been looking in the wrong direction for too long, time it was stopped. And even if it were true, there are faster ways to destroy the planet's life than warming - something AGW believers need to realise.

Lets hope we can redress the balance and head of the next environmental Chernobyl before it happens, instead of getting suckered just making Al Gore and his mates richer.

Congrats PP, you have made a difference.

Well done..

I'm not suprised about ythe support you found..

Most people are sceptical about the alarmist scaremongering, agree with us or you evil stuff, spouted by a tiny element of a certain type of activist...

Just for so long, they have never been challaneged on any of the wilder pronouncements (all unsubstatiated, emotive scares, if, might could mayne, turns into FACT, as soon as anyone questions, it has been - "we are saving the planet. why do you want to destroy your childrens future, you 'evil deniar'

That HAS tended to shut people up in past...

NOT anymore, all they have is bluster and fear (their own),
and the sad thing is they REALLY believe it, the planet is dying because of humans...

When my 5 year old daughter aid to me that polar bears are dying because of humans, - I said ENOUGH propaganda..(to myself) humans do do awful things, but I don't wanther programmed with humans are evil self hatred of these groups.
