Im going to Iceland!
Discussion
I've just been quoted to goto iceland for a week at the end of August. Really looking forward to it.
I will be staying in Reykjavik.
Any first hand experience of traveling there? Any must sees?
I will have hire car but will not be able to travel too far as im travelling with my wife and two young children.
Reading some travel books and searching the internet, it seems like a fantastic place. Lots of geographic wonders, but food is not cheap.

Very interesting and unusual place.
Blue Lagoon is fairly close to Reykjavik, and is worth at least a couple of hours. I'd get there first thing in the morning, as soon as it opens, that way you get at least an hour or so of relative quiet before the bus tours arrive.
Jökulsárlón (the ice lake in Die Another Day/Tomb Raider to name but two films) is, in my view, amazing. A great photographic location, but a bit of a trek from where you're staying.
There are also geyser thingys that aren't too far away.
Reykjavik itself is alright to wander around, we also went whale and puffin watching, which is worth a trip if you can.
A tip if you like alcohol, when you go through arrivals in the airport, all the locals make a bee line for the duty free. This is because it's difficult to get hold of alcohol apart from in bars/restaurants, where it's prohibitively priced. There are Government sanctioned off licences, but again, they're fairly pricey.
