Where is good in Cornwall?
Discussion
Not holidayed before in the UK. So am thinking about a week in Cornwall late summer. I have no idea where is worth going? I dont really have any budget constraints (within reason) but want to look for a nice cottage close to the sea. I live in the countryside and so dont want a house on a farm etc... Would like a nice town/village area with great buildings and views, a couple of nice restaurants and a nice warm feeling to it. Nothing full of hoodies and tatooed beeer bellies. I guess I want that typical middle class, boden catalogue feel (ok shoot me!) any ideas?
Once the locations are sorted I can then try and find a decent place.
thanks

I like Falmouth. Down the bottom on the south coats but easy travelling to lots of great places. If your a bit of a tech geek, Goonhilly is worth a trip, and the lost gardens of Heligan are a nice day away from the beaches. Geevor Tin Mine is worth seeing too!
Sennen Cove and Chapel Porth are 2 of my favourite beaches, even if the former gets utterly rammed!
Enjoy it! Cornwall is great!

It'll probably rain, lol. Have you thought about dorset?
My in laws have a place near Sandbanks that we can use - so have spent the odd weekend there. Fancy going further west.I went to Cornwall a few years ago and the OH took his mother earlier this year, we both booked through www.abovebeachcottages.co.uk/. Stayed in Porthleven which was very nice.
Rock - just the other side of the bay from Padstow. There are some awesome beaches around there (Polzeath for example) and some lovely little places to eat and drink. It's quiet and completely chav free (well Rock is, the beaches around it not so much so!!!) Plus loads of things like Tintagel Castle ruins within a few miles.
I've just come back from there last week! Here is the view from the slipway by the Mariners bar overlooking Padstow last Wednesday night.

Blimey, I agreed with BSR,I feel a little dirty now

Bloomin fantastic bar that is - well worth the required remortgage for a pint and a bottle of wine if only for the heaters mounted outside so the wife doesn't complain about getting chilly
I did take it indeed, thanks
a few more of the surrounding area here I took this year,

still going through them so only a handful up at the moment.

I was going to say you might want to look at what John Bray has to offer, I know there are some very nice houses on there.

I visit there at least twice a year and would never recognise the place from the thousands of pictures I have of similar
Good stuff
I'd suggest Bude, North Cornwall and surrounds.
I've stayed at a really nice b and b, they have a self-catering cottage too.

Widemouth Bay, which is a few miles South of Bude has a few holiday cottages very close to the beach.

North Cornwall - Rock/Daymer/Polzeath area. Good beaches, chilled out surf/sailing atmosphere. No chavs but do not underestimate the annoyance of the public school ra ra crowd.
South Cornwall - Fowey. Small fishing town set in picturesque estuary. Great walks, again no chavs or tacky shops. Try www.estuarycottages.co.uk.

We booked a place in Penzance through http://www.cornishcottageholidays.co.uk/ - Penzance might not fit your criteria, but the company were very good to deal with.
