Where to spend New years eve - Kuala Lumpur or Signapore

I will be in Kuala Lumpur on the 29th of December and have a flight leaving Singapore for Australia on the 3rd of January.

I'm undecided of whether to stay in Kuala Lumpur for New years eve and head to singapore on the 1st or 2nd, or head to singapore on the 31st and spend new years eve there.

Does anyone have any experiece of either place on new years eve. Or if not new years eve, just in general and where you'd expect would be better

Singapores a nice place, we had a one night stopover on the way back from OZ 18 months ago, but you wont want to be there for more than 2 days. Never been to KL.

Singapore would be my choice out of the two. I was there for Chinese New Year a couple of years back and the street parties and atmosphere were brilliant. KL is a nice city, but I preferred Singapore to be honest.

New Years not celebrated that heavily in Asia, they go more for Chinese New Year a month later.

Having said that there is always the big ZOUK party on Sentosa and there will be many other big parties in St James' Power Station if that's your thing!

There is usually some fireworks downtown that get suplimented by all the shipping in the straits sounding their horns and letting off fireworks and distress flares!

I will probably be at the usual anual NYE beach party and alcoholic ruin session out my end of the island! welcome to join in if you fancy!
