If you had 35-40k to spend on a car? Porsche or Ferrari?
Discussion
Just looking at a few options at the moment, but if you could get together 35-40k to spend on a car, what would you have out of:
35K Bracket:
1) Porsche 996 turbo
2) Ferrari 355
40kish Bracket:
1) Porsche 996 GT2
2) Ferrari 360
The other wild card is an Ultima GTR?
If I got a 996 Turbo I wouldn't have to have a daily driver either, but all of the others would have to be a second car I recon?

However 360 would be tempting.

What sort of usage/mileage and how much can you afford to spend to run it?
A turbo I would run every day without worry, I don't do a vast amount of miles, an 80 mile commute at the start and end of the week, and where ever I fancy going in the meantime, to the mrs etc. So won't be putting mega milage on anything, but the GT2 and ferraris I would prob have a shed just to keep the miles/ daily damage/winter off a more valuble car. Running costs would get whatever they need, and all cars would HAVE to be manual, not F1, although I suspect a 911 would be a bit kinder on the pocket over the year than a Ferrari.
My own opinion (admittedly not worth much) is that between the 355 and the 360 the 355 just looks totally dated.
I always assumed in mechanical terms that a GT2 was entirely usable, any impracticality was due to lack of refinement or whatever word you want to use as it's basically a road legal track car?
I was just browsing through the Pistonheads Classifieds and I'm staggered how little money you can get a Maserati 4200 for. It's not a Porsche or a Ferrari but what a lot of car for the money.
