Hi,

Hoping to watch Le Mans on Eurosport at w/e without waking everyone.

Tried to connect the Sky+ box to the Freesat dish I have set up in the outside office to no avail.

Does this mean that the Freesat system points to a different satellite than Sky does?

They both work attached to their respective dishes.

Thanks and yours in ignorance

I think it's the same sat dish but it needs to be pointing in exactly the right position and needs a sat bloke to set it up.

Freesat points to the same satellite.

I've just borrowed a Sky box to do exactly that - plugged it into the satellite feeds and it's up and running straight away. Eurosport in HD smile

It doesn't need a satellite guy to set it up at all.

I have 2 freesat boxes and 2 sky boxes all connected to a single dish. If you have a subscription on the Sky+ box then you may need it to be connected to a phone line to work?.

I bought a FreeSat TV and connected it up and it didn't work. Phoned the TV guy and he found the receiver wasn't working, put a new one on set the alignment and it worked.

OP said he set it up and it does not work........

The Sky box is the one that does not work when connected to the "freesat" dish.

I suppose the Sky box needs setting up, but as it works when connected to another dish, can't imagine what else would need setting up.

OP, check that you haven't knocked the viewing card loose when moving it.

Thanks for all the response guys - appreciated!

To elaborate my setup...

Inside house
- New Sky HD box connected to Sky dish - all OK
- If I connect the Freesat Humax HDR box (wife'll need something I guess) - all OK

Outside Office
Freesat dish (professionally installed)
- Freesat Humax HDR box - all OK
- connected old Sky+ box - failed no signal detected
- connected new Sky HD box - failed no signal detected

So from above comments sounds like the freesat dish not quite aligned
