Pendulum - Immersion
Discussion
I did a search and there doesn't appear to be a topic on this.
I loved In Silico - played it so much that if it had been a vinyl I would have worn it out - so naturally I bought their new album Immersion. Only got round to listening to it tonight though.
After one listen through, I feel the same way as I did about Muse's new album. Kind of let down and feeling that it was all pretty much of a muchness. Maybe it'll grow on me.
Anybody else have any opinions on it?

I actually think it's quite good.
Especially the rock orientated tracks.
And 'The Fountain' is one of their best tracks to date IMO......but then again, I'm a HUGE HUGE Steve Wilson fan (anyhting that guy does turns to Gold
).
I think it offers a good mix of 'Dance/Club' inspired tracks, and with some more 'progressive' style DnB as well.
I've listened to it quite a few times now, and I'm still not bored of it.
That said, 'Hold your colour' is still their best work (and going to be a tough one to beat). I was not impressed with 'In Silico'. A bit too commercial for my liking.

Really?. The Fountain? Shows everyone has a different taste as I think its one of the most boring tracks on the album. Where is the tune? I had to look up who Steve Wilson was too.

The start of Encoder is very, ver similar to Galvanize by the Chemical Brothers. And then boring until the second half, where it becomes a totally different tune which I quite like.
The start of Watercolour sounds like the start of It's Raining Men by The Weathergirls.
Set Me on Fire I quite like. Crush is okay. Immunize is quite good, but very Prodigy, which I don't have a problem with. Comprachios sounds like Nine Ince Nails. Self V Self is alright but there's not much Pendulum left on it.
Nope, still definitely prefer In Silico to Immersion and Hold Your Colour to both.

Totally agree with you. Especially that minute or so towards the end which I think is the "quite like" bit you're referring to. None of the tracks is a patch on 'Different' on 'In Silico' which is one of my favourite tracks on that album.

Different is good but my favourite on In Silico is The Tempest. Was disappointed they didn't play it at the live show I was at.
I'm a huge fan in regards to Pendulum and Muse.
I love the idea behind 'The Island' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kJmKFe2FtE and 'Watercolour' is soon to be another big song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEPB7uzKuh4&fea...
It's nice to see them playing live! Look out for SubFocus supporting them - Another great DJ using Coco (Stings daughter) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMzDcBs53nA

We both found Immersion to be competent, but not astonishing. It's no "hold your colour"

We also think this, so much so that I'd like to see them perform a live mashup and drop into that track...Bomber Denton said:
Saw them live in Plymouth just over a week ago, awesome although Sub Focus who supported produced better music Pendulum have that live clout that's amazing.
Sub Focus were excellent when we saw them support.RDShaw said:

See, I really like Sub Focus too, but I think he's really spoiled that track by putting a vocal on top of it. It was much better on the album. I suspect he thinks he needs the vocal to make it more commercially viable, but I hate it.I love the idea behind 'The Island' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kJmKFe2FtE and 'Watercolour' is soon to be another big song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEPB7uzKuh4&fea...

Quite funny as I only found this thread after doing a search because I thought the exact same thing...Having read through peoples' replies though, I'm a massive fan of Pendulum and Muse, I agree about both of their latest albums - I'm loyal to them both but neither album had anything which made me even more proud to be a fan, was pretty disappointed.
In Silico is my favourite of the three, with probably my favourite track being The Tempest just coz it's an epic final track. But both bands are amazing live... well I assume so as for Pendulum at Reading 2010 I spent the whole time making sure I didn't actually die.. epic though!!
Muse I've seen in Exeter on their Absolution tour, Birmingham for Black Holes and Revelations and Manchester for The Resistance, all three were absolutely draw dropping as always - wish i could've seen them at Wembley though.
