Guys, looking for some help, so if anyone has experience of dealing with vehicle transporter companies I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I've just sold my XTR2 (via pistonheads) and the new owner is looking to take it over to France. He has an English company lined up who will take it over in a box truck (with a car lift) but they've hit a wall trying to get it from Helensburgh to the south east.

The English company arranged for an outfit from Falkirk to pick it up, but they turned up, took one look at the car and decided they couldn't fit it on their trailer or artic transporter.

I'm toting with the idea of hiring a van and taking it down there myself, but it's not exactly an appealing proposition. (need a van to tow trailer and carry the spares package)

any miracle suggestions gratefully recieved

Thanks for your help folks,

I've PM'd Melv and Jason, time permitting I'll try phoning the other guy tomorrow.

I'm feeling pretty sorry for the buyer hence I'm keen to help him get this resolved.

Time I updated this and a big thankyou to all!! thumbup

Trip went well incl an overnight on the Portsmouth-St Malo ferry, and discovering the delightful village of Saint Suliac, s. of St Malo.

Useful trip in that we were planning family holiday in the delivery area south of Nantes so could do some research into beaches and restaurants!!

So thanx KEF!!

Strangely enough, the roof rack and board I put on to carry the nose section of KEF's motor has improved the fuel consumption of my Shogun -I don't believe it!!!eek
