Recently sold an old mobile phone on ebay - it was two years old and had been used every day - so obviosuly a fair few scratches etc on it - which were photogrpahed and described, but it was in use everyday until it was sold with no problems.

Now it only sold for £40, which is about market value for the model in question in a used condition.

Buyer pays (via paypal of course) and I send phone out.

This morning I get a "item not as described dispute" in which the user is claiming that the phone "makes a buzzing noise when in a call" - as i said above the phone was in daily use until it was sold - with no sign of any buzzing noise.

So now obviously paypal have deducted the cash from ym account and they buyer wants to send me the phone back.

Can I just say "sorry no, phone didn't buzz when sold" or do I have to give the return and thats it?

Cheers

Dan

Unfortunately, from lots of similar threads like this, I'd give the refund and get the phone back. Otherwise, you're highly likely to get screwed over, loose the phone AND the money :-( Just make sure you get the same phone back that you posted out...

I hate ebay.

Im sure someone more knowledgeable will be along but as long as the phone is as described i dont think theres a lot the buyer can do/say about it tbh..

Did he leave you any positive feedback before reporting the issues through paypal?

You won't win this.

Let him send back his own phone with a buzz, that he has now replaced with an identical working model courtesy of yourself.

And next time, send it to envirophone for probably more than £40.

^^ This is a very likely scenario... unless you have kept the IMEI from the phone you sold (did you sell it boxed with the IMEI label perhaps?)

Obviously if the IMEI is different you will then have a case to get your original phone back or call the buyer out as a bullstter.
