Advice needed - been offered RR in PX
Discussion
Right chaps, need a little help.
I'm selling my RX7 at the moment, and have just been offered a Range Rover in PX. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I'm quite tempted to be honest.
Basically my Land Rover knowledge is pretty non-existant, so after some unbias opinions.

Now before anyone comments, the wheels would need to come off and get some standard ones on pretty sharpish. Are these hard to come by?
So if I went for this, my plan would be to have it for a month or so, and then get it back up for sale without getting too attached. As it is, anyone have any ideas on value?
What are peoples opinions of LPG conversions on these? Any experiences?
What about known issues, should I be looking for any specific repairs to have been done, especially with this mileage?
Thanks for any advice.

hi, ive just got rid of my '99 at p38 range rover.it had 81k on clock. im massive fan of landies but my last one was a money pit! i had to get rid of it before anything else went wrong. although i had the diesel (aparantly better on fuel and more reliable than petrol).
rangies are lovley cars on and offroad and are very well kitted out. they are very expensive to repair, unless its an old RR classsic.
things to check- i'm sure there are more but here is a few.
coolant, petrol v8s are prone to pourus liners
air suspension, air bags can leak and compressors start to fail
all electrics, fuse boxes can smell of burning smell, a sign its due for replacment
keys, a pain in the arse when the key packs up (and they do alot) the alarm is very good and cannot be by passed(ive not seen one done anyway) keys are about £120, bought one last year.
they dont rust much though!
alloys are quite cheap, dont bother with putting bigger wheels on than standard as it drives like a pig. i put bigger disco 3 ones on and it found every rut on the road.
hold out a bit longer something will turn up! good luck.

If you were ever tempted by a P38, make sure you get one MY 2000+
Whilst the newer ones still have the ability to create financial ruin, they are more reliable than the older ones.
The one in the ad would be too leggy for me, plus has the GEMS engine management rather than the later BOSCH stuff - although it has (IMO) the best colour/trim combo.
Mine is a BOSCH one, running on LPG, and is great - love it to bits. However, it is just at the point where it might be about to start costing me money...... aircon stopped working, and my indy recharged it last service (for £14!) and added a dye. It has lost charge again, so it is going in next week to see if the leaky aircon can be sorted. This has the potential for costing me £££££
Apart from that, it's been a great car - but it took me a long time to source it (bought it 2 and a half years ago) and I saw a lot of overpriced rubbish before buying.

Picked up on the differences in management systems after having a read through some articles I found googling. This and the mileage does put me off a fair bit, especially since I'm only really selling the RX to free up some cash. Will be holding off scratching that 4x4 itch for a while I think.
Thanks for the pointers guys!
