Does anyone know if E46 front seats can be fitted to an E39?

Anyone done it already?

Thanks

Hi

I think a few people have asked before, and from memory it seems they won't really fit without fairly extensive faffing around with runners and locations etc. As per previous seats query, you can probably do it, but much easier to just get E39 sports seats or known to fit much more easily after market seats.

Cheers, Dennis!

thanks dennis - the issue for me is that grade a m5 sports seats dont come up very often and i dont need a whole interior - just the front seats really - aftermarket wont enhance my car, so i'm looking for 'bmw seat' options -seems there aren't any!

if anyone has a set of mint e39 m5 seats up for grabs - please let me know!smile

Hi Trellis,

I know what you mean by 'Grade A' but you must factor in that the very last E39 M5's are now 7 to 7.5 years old. Early ones are 11 or so years old. There's not likely to be many grade A seats out there and when they do turn up invariably it's the complete set that's sold and sellers don't like to split for obvious reasons.

There's two on Ebay UK right now - well one set now I think - £850 with slight damage to one door card.

Else, if you really must have M5 seats, you could get normal E39 sport seats, and have them re-trimmed with either the standard M5 two tone style cuts and stitching or the optional heritage leather style cuts and stitching. That'll give you a true 'Grade A' interior.

Otherwise, keep trawling the classifieds and see if a set comes up, if they do, and they're as mint as can be, you'll probably still see them north of £900-1000+

Cheers, Dennis!

Getting front seats retrimmed will cost you around £500.
They will look like new.

The damage on the silver/black set means its not an option. My door cards and rear seats are mint. (all black) so my ideal is 2 front seats only. I really dont need to set about changing the whole interior.

I think retrimming is a good option, but again - finding e39 heated sports seats with electric adjustment is difficult.

Options are limited - its much easier to find a pair of E46 sports seats because there are a lot more of them! hence my original question. Guess I'll keep waiting.............
