Any recommendations for somewhere nice in the New Forest?
Ideally somewhere like a log cabin / lodge, or a nice out of the way hotel.
Have two kids, so need somewhere with adjoining rooms.

(It's for this weekend if that makes a difference - Saturday night only)

it's a beautiful place set back from rhinefield road and right near to some lovely walks. When we go we usually try to stay there or Careys Manor.

Funnily enough I've just called Careys Manor too...
Trying to find adjoining rooms or a suite really racks the price up!!!

Careys is nice and very well located for Brockenhurst but it's not as picturesque.

I've never stayed here but i've been past it a few times and it's pretty well located: http://www.cloudhotel.co.uk/

Thanks.
Looks like the Cloud one don't accept kids under 8...

I'd be happy with somewhere less glamorous... we'll only be kipping there really, we'll be roughing it on a beach somewhere during the day I'd imagine!

Phil - let us know next time you're heading that way and i'll try and sort out at a weekend at my folks (Mudeford) at the sametime. If we get the girls to drive we can find a pub somewhere and have a few beers!

High Corner Inn. Lovely off the track pub and the staff are fantastic.

Sounds like a plan, I've got fond memories of crabbing off Mudeford quay thumbup

Sorry, I'd disagree. Carey's is very, very average and over-priced for what it is.

Rhinefield, however, is far superior.

Didn't Richard Branson used to own Rhinefield....

OP - I've not stayed in either of these but I've driven past both of them on a regular basis and they look good.

Christchurch Harbour Hotel

or

Eastclose Country House

Both have had major refurbs in the last 12 months.

Did you find anything OP?

I always recommend the Master Boat Builders in Bucklers Hard, only because our boat lives outside so I know it's a nice place.

Might be a bit over budget though, the restaurant is quite posh (although the Yachtsmans bar is full of scruff like me).

I did speak with a number of different places.
We were a bit late getting availability for the connected rooms / suite with two rooms.

We binned the idea in the end, but we will hopefully organise something for later in the year with a bit more notice!

Thanks for the suggestions - will let you know our experiences if we ever use any of them
