A very interesting statement from the ACO. The prequals may well take place in April again next year it seems, but th rule changes for the cars a re much more interesting. Don't quit on the french version, just go down to read the engish text

Most interesting, thanks for posting. Although the most staggering thing appears to be that they've announced the 2011 date!

Whilst the noise reduction stuff doesn't fill me with joy, I like the fact that they are encouraging new tech. I think this could really appeal to some big manufacturers, especially the Japanese.

No mention of the stated aim of getting petrol and derv on a more level playing field though, unless I missed it?

Indeed - if only those pesky diesels weren't so loud they wouldn't have spoiled it for everyone... hehe


Depends on what the limits are I guess (currently 115db drive-by I think) but I don't think they'll ever 'silence' the cars to the point where they become utterly dull. And if there's a tendency towards turbo engines then they're generally quieter than NA cars (or if not quieter in absolute db terms, the frequency of the sound is less painful on the ear).
