Someone developed a mod to the pedals which they posted on here a couple of years(?)back, including photos.

A search might find it......

Heel and toe is a relative thing--the throttle (pedal) position is adjustable smile.

I use outside right foot throttle, inside right foot brake works fine with standard pedals and is quicker with more feel.

all sounds a bit complicated to me, but isnt the easiest way just to left foot brake?

how do you work the clutch? the reason I heel and toe is to blip the throttle as I change down

I thought the blip is to match gearbox and engine speeds, they invented syncromesh to overcome this.

If you go to this link you should find the topic I started regarding `heel and toe` issues.

Good demo of how to `heel and toe` - it`s also interesting to see him tapping the throttle pedal whilst accelerating to just get the driven wheels to the point of break away/maximum traction.

and also staying on the brakes but blending in the throttle to balance the car on the entry into one of the corners..

Max grip max power balance in corner, before nailing it on exit.

Nowdays no clutch so left foot braking

Several ways to fix this. As Joel said, you can adjust the accelerator within a small range without affecting wide open throttle - basically, you're reducing the amount of freeplay in the throttle cable. Another way is to bend/modify either the brake or accelerator pedals. A third way is to add a shim onto the brake pedal - if you use aftermarket pedal covers (like the billet or cast ones), get an extra brake one and stack the two together. Or make a spacer. Or maybe you can have a cobbler put an extra-thick sole just under the toe of your driving shoes... biggrin

i understand about balancing tyre grip in the corner; if you are not on the throttle, you have engine braking on the tyre. this braking torque is using some of the grip available and therefore there is less lateral grip available. also, maximum cornering grip does require some slip, by putting throttle in while cornering you cancel out the engine braking and can induce some slip.

I've just never seen someone jab the throttle pedal like that before. obviously because it was Senna there must be something in it!

these are interesting:

Anyway, back to thread topic. My brake pedal sinks too low to heel toe so i was planning on putting a spacer in under a fancy brake pedal to lift it.

Great explanation sorry wasnt trying to offend, dabbing the throttle is the only way of being sure you are on boost and of finding the limit of grip for exit of corner.

cheers.
