E60 M5, been stood a while
Discussion
Hi guys,
I have the possible oppertunity to aquire an M5, however it has been in storage since around Jan 2007.
I will be viewing the car in the next week or so, which is on an 06 plate and HPi clear.
I am greatly concerned about the fact its been stood for so long. So, a couple of questions at the moment are buzzing round my head.
1. What should I offer?
2. What parts would likely need replacing on it. Tyres and brakes are the obvious ones, but are there any other parts which would not be enjoying its long holiday from the road?? Could the head gasket of perished in any way?
3. What precautions should I take before attempting to start it? I'm thinking of taking a lead off to crank the engine over a few times before actually firing it, to get it lubricated. Clearly I do not want to cause any damage it.
4. Anything else I should be considering?
Thanks in advance.

Tyres may well be flat spotted but getting them good and hot should cure that. They're not old enough to dictate age-related replacement. Not sure why you want to replace the brakes but do change the fluid. As for starting not sure how different it is for a car to sit for a day or three years so I wouldn't bother removing a lead. Besides the engine has one coil per plug so you would need to pull all 10. Or pull the fuel pump filter if you wish. Do change the oil and filter as soon as poss and either drive the car gently until the old fuel is used or better yet drain the tank and put in fresh high octane fuel. Consider changing the fuel filter. And the coolant and drive belts.
Where was it stored?
