Uhh Audi Quattro!! That or a Cosworth Mercedes 190E
Oh yes!! (In hindsight).Though I was thirteen in 1982 when the mk1 XR2 was launched. At the time, for me, there was no substitute!

I'd say F40. Otherwise, either a white Countach 5000QV or Testarossa.
F40 was possibly the ultimate car of the decade performance wise and is the one most people seem to remember now. The Countach S and QV were possibly the most popular pinups at the time, but a Testarossa probably screams '80s louder than the Countach.
Or, looking at it from a different angle, how about the Ford Sierra?

Random thread I appreciate, but I wanted to garner your opinion on this. I was pondering the question myself, and couldn't come to a conclusion. I did however think of the BMW 635 CSi as one contender.
I now open the floor to your gentle insults and contributions.
635 is nice, but more of a niche icon I suspect.I now open the floor to your gentle insults and contributions.
Personally quite like these:

Although if you are in the US then I guess a Corvette might well rank pretty high too.
