I missed this the first time around, and never bothered with Ashes to Ashes either. I very mistakenly assumed that, as they were BBC dramas, they would be a bit shyte. Like Dr Who or something.

I have just finished watching both series of Life on Mars and how wrong I was.

It has been brilliant.

Gripping storylines with great characters. Hilarious, enthralling, suspenseful and poignant all at the same time.

Gonna start on Ashes to Ashes when I get back from me 'olidays.

Loved LOM, but didn't think A2A was anywhere near as good.

I am in a minority though.

I agree, LOM is one of the best dramas the BBC have ever made, two great lead actors and some brilliant story lines.

Life on Mars was amazing.
I liked A2A as well (especially from S2 onwards).
I think it's fair to say that LOM was a slightly more serious series and A2A has a bit more fun with it. Not that that's a bad thing.

Now, yesterday's shooting. The dealers are all so scared we're more likely to get Helen Keller to talk. The P*ki in a coma's about as lively as Liberace's dick when he's looking at a naked woman. All in all, this investigation's going at the speed of a spastic in a magnet factory. What?

A2A was good, and Alex was (is) bloody gorgeous, which goes some way towards making up for it being slightly weaker. As does the cracking 80s soundtrack.

But it could never have kept up with the quality of LoM, it was the first, and by far and away the best.

A bit of me is wanting to dig out the american version just to see how badly they screwed up the ending.

The same way you might want to chop your cock off to see what it's like to need to sit down to pee? Treat that curiosity likewise and bury it deep, deep down.

Not watched LOM, or A2A, but read how A2A ended and it makes me wanna watch it.

How did the US version screw it up?

Keeley Hawes is utterly wonderful in Ashes to Ashes. I could watch her all day.

My mind can't get wrapped around that. I was honestly thinking it was more likely to be a massive internet related conspiracy/hoax, everyone else in on it but me.

Thats got to be by far and away the worst bit of writing in the history of tv, doesn't it???

I've just watched about 35 seconds of that and decided to give up. Now having read the other comments, morbid curiosity makes some part of the brain (that I keep suppressed for some good reason) want to watch it!!
