My dad's subscribed, so I'll read it every week.

I don't see what's wrong with it? Some decent stuff in their mags (IMO of course).

Maybe it's because I haven't read any other mags.

Basically in my opinion it is because most of the stories are made up and are basically just cars they make on photoshop with random performance figures picked out of a hat. For me I like evo or mini magazine and sometime get the odd issue of CAR as well all far superior imo.

Endless exclusives about cars that either never see the light of day or will look nothing like their photoshop. Similar thing to tabliod sport reporting

Do you read Private Eye for serious news reporting? No? So why would you read Auto Express for all the real comings and going in the car industry?

Costs far too much too. I only buy it when they have their tyre tests or suchlike.

Its not too bad imo, but their drawings of what they think cars might look like... Plus, Autocar is a better weekly mag.

For their general run-of-the-mill news and car tests it's not bad, but the truth is, Autocar are far more established and trusted and as a result get given all the exclusives ahead of Auto Express.

Unfortunately for Auto Express this doesn't give them much 'shelf appeal' if they've just got a road test of a new Meriva or something on their cover when Autocar are parading the latest Alfa Romeo concept, so Auto Express have a nasty habit of making up a story for their front page based on a throwaway speculative comment from an 'insider source', knowing full well that by next week everyone will have forgotten all about it so they'll never be held to account.

Also, they use the word 'scoop' to describe their made-up concept car stories, which makes them look even more stupid. You don't 'scoop' something you made up yourself, and if you did manage to get hold of some amazing industry information to put on your front cover, you wouldn't insult the intelligence of the company who gave it to you by using a word like 'scoop' in the first place, which is best suited to bullst Z-list break-up stories in awful airhead's weekly rags.
