I have followed a few companies but never actually bought any shares outside of company schemes because I have been building up a 'war fund' and or been using it for housing.

but as many have i thought i would take a punt on this BP issue. Now my trade hasn;t gone through yet but eff me how easy is it to do on the internet. it's harder to buy a bliming DVD. and i have got £10 grand of 'credit'.

this has led me to a (naive) thought. normal people must be 'day trading' a hell of a lot more than back in the day - right?

back in the day when?

When computers were a luxury and SX25 486 was considered fast?

When no proper internet?

When dial up was the enemy?

Yes, it is much easier than it was 20 years ago. Cheaper, too. You don't need to have a starting pot of £25k or something to try - just deposit £100 in some spreadbetting companies and have a play.

I think the trick is to be able to buy/sell in more or less realtime, i think you need some special account/software for that.

yes.

_________

the point on needing things to work quickly is the key to my hypothesis on day trading.

my trade hasn;t gone through yet. the listed price of in the 370s but i put a limit of 380 on. might be a bit dear at 380 but seeing as i almost bought some at £5 last year that's my rationale.

Not the best world renowned investment bank let alone the share accounts they hold... I tried to get involved and their staff knew the sq route of fk all... but going to have a look round and see who I can find that is any good.

the best renowned investment banks needed a bit more help than hsbc though didn;t they?

i only need them to execute a trade and they couldn;t because i didn;t want to pay enough..!
