I find the most useful thing about the sat-nav in my E61 is the TMC data displayed on the screen. However, I don't knowingly pay anything for this, and thought it was a subscription service. Anyone have any idea whether it just works, for free, or whether it's suddenly going to turn off because the previous owner's subscription comes to an end...?

I have this on my E46 and it just works. No subscription needed.

Yup, it's a continually running broadcast. You can get TMC receivers for TomToms too.

I've heard it only works properly if you have classic fm set as one of your radio stations. The TCM logo certainly goes green (receiving info) when I do this.

I get TMC in my display, and certainly receive the updates, despite Classic FM not being in my stored stations, so I think that's a fallacy.

Thanks though, nice to know it'll just keep working smile

Think you need a different disk. I have a French disk where it works, but the UK one doesn't.

I'm going to try the classic fm thing as a preset, see if that works.
