Silverstone performance is probably the best for power and is quiet so you can still manage track days OK, it is expensive and heavy however.

I have the ACT system on mine, fab sound, a little on the loud side but I normally manage to get away with it on 105dB track days. Not quite as much power, 1-2 BHP I understand, as the Silverstone Performance unit but I think it is cheaper and certainly lighter.

Do not buy a cheap system, I have heard stories of them being well down on power from the factory standard systems and prone to breaking.

Linked decat and standard back box - quiet enough for track and sprinting, robs no power, and not too heavy.

I'm wondering about this very same question. My new cerb is all standard. Its really really quite horrible. So much so that I'm not desperate to drive it...

I think the ACT one is what I will be buying. Probably wont worry about a decat.

Just do a de-cat. That way you will get a cheap sound improvement plus a reduction in temp in the car.

Edited to add - yours is a S6, I have no idea then what I would do. Let me have a drive !?

Hmmmm - its a hard call Arda. I think I would go ACT as the quality of their products warrant the price. The SP looks great but is that bit more expensive I think.

See below ACT answer to my question regarding getting maximum noise from a system that already has linked decats and sports exhaust

"The only increase left is to fit big bore system, with 3" tails, the sound would be also deeper.
We don't list this option but to have full system from decats back with out any extra silencing £495 +vat £20 del, just a note from July 1st they will be 12% more expensive due to JP price increase"

If they don't list all options it's got to be worth a phone call

ACT's quiet system is 3db quieter than SP's and half the weight and a lot smaller around the rear box area should you wish to lower the car or go over aggressive speed humps. I was left with around 70mm road clearence after fitting.

SP's also have a history of misaligned real tail pipes so they don't fit the cut outs or bang against the rear valence, in my case causing burning and crazing and cost me to get it fixed. Hopefully that manufacturing issue has been resolved now, but several cars had the system fitted in this state judging by posts on here.

They do however breath slightly better than the ACT quiet system, which on my 4.2 car when it was running around 343bhp made 2 bhp difference over the ACT, so not really noticable. It may have bigger differences on the tuned 4.5's.

Noise wise, the ACT system on my car is 106db at 4.5k revs decatted, the SP is 109db, sports pipes is 116db decatted. They used to say a full system on a 4.2 was 98db but that was proven to be on a car with cats in, not the full system with linked decat pipes. Adding the cats takes 8-10db off the system but I'd take them off just to stop the heat soak through the gearbox/clutch/cabin.

Sound wise, the SP system has slightly deeper base note than the ACT (which may or may not be a good thing depending on how you are using it but both sound great compared to other offerings.
