Window adjustments

My drivers window needs adjusting, just wonder what needs doing and how to do it?

The window does everything correctly EXCEPT one thing....

If you are in the car with the window lowered most or all of the way and then you press the door open button then it takes a second or two for the door to open (longer than it should). Its almost like the car is delaying the opening of the door until the window is wound down (like the window is closed fully rather than already partially or fully open).

any ideas?

When you press the door open button the door control box first checks if the window is far enough down by checking the window micro switch. (Small switch behind the door card that gets moved as the glass moves down)

If it is....the control box will pop the lock straight away.

If it isn't the control box will set the window to lower until it see's the micro switch make eg window moves to the down position, then pop the lock.

If it sets the window to lower and never sees the micro switch make eg the window never moves or the micro switch is broken, a timer times out, the output to lower the window is then cancelled and the lock is popped anyway.

If the micro switch is broken and the window is working ok, when you press the button you'd see the window drop further and it would take longer to open the door.

OR as I think your case maybe. The window is already lowered BUT the micro switch is not made(its broke) therefore the control box thinks the window is UP so it lowers the window, the timer times out as it doesn't see the micro switch and then the door is popped.

As a side note I'm working on a little project to replace the door control box with one I've made myself, will be much cheaper than the exchange unit currently available and hopefully I'll be able to set the windows to work on a 'one touch' basis like an Audi. No more sitting with finger on button for minites waiting for said window to move

So I will buy a new micro switch, take door card off, replace it , job done...

I'd check it first with a multi meter to see if it is broke. It could have just moved/fallen off its bracket, you never know

Its only a switch so you could also check the wiring is ok by pressing the door open button then shorting the micro switch wires together, simulating the window making the switch. If it then pops the lock you know the problem is with the switch
