Took BG in for an MOT this morning, got failed on my wker plate hehe

Nothing stupid about it really, normal font, no silly screw cap nonsense, it just doesn't have the gap between the WAR 83N.

Anyone else get a regular fail on this?

Yet another reason to get rid of it, I've well & truly gone off it anyway. Time to put the car back onto a regular 1990 'G' plate, and give it its dignity back.

Going to transfer it onto Mrs BG's Panda next week, but I won't tell her, let's see how long it takes for her to notice it biggrin

Can't you just put a dateless reg on it, instead?

I think that's disgusting.....

I apologise on behalf of the MOT station Ben. Don't they realise you fought for Queen and country?

They've passed it several times before, but things are really tightening up now.

I heard that MOT stations were being advised that as long as the letter/numbers were the correct font & size etc that the spacings were not a fail!

I don't mind the regular 1990 'G' plate, it's the classiest option IMO, it will probably go back onto it's original number anyway, which will be nice.

They are getting a bit funny lately over plates. Had one fail a few weeks ago as the characters weren't showing black. Nope. That's because they're perfectly legal 3D ones.

Was also told yesterday that because a vehicle we sent round last week had failed its current MOT is now invalidated.

Back on topic.
As you say. Give it its dignity back. If any car should be on a normal registration it's something like BG.

Testers and their stations have to be, because the law is now so stick on plates. Gone are the days of 'if you get pulled and they ask, you put them back on when you left the garage, aight'...

If 3D plates means where the edge is shaded to give it a 3D ish look then I have those on mine, but not through choice. They came from the dealer like that, the name of the garage and postcode is on it - what say you?

It doesn't mean anything. The garage may not be aware of the legislation surrounding number plates.

I have a number plate making machine in my office, I can any font I like, and put anything on the botton, as well as any badge on the side. Just because I can, doesn't mean it is legal though.

Incidently, talking of (il)legalities, I made the number plate '1' stuck it on a Merc SL63 AMG and drove it around for 10 minutes before feeling VERY paranoid biggrin

I think it's for the best. You'd have really got a redcard for a cheap Oirish plate, however nothing quite says "Old money" like a Bentley on the original plates.
