Just rang my local stealership to book in an oil service for the 330d...

Asked how much....

£250. eek

No thanks chaps, I like the FBMWSH but for a premium of 75% extra on an oil service it's just not worth it :O

Was expecting 180ish, how green of me rolleyes

Quite. I was actually speechless, which isn't good when you're on the phone....

I haven't seen anything above 200 when looking around on the net for what people pay. Maybe it's the surrey factor.

But my car's FBMWSH will be no more, that's for sure!

In fact that's MORE than the price I paid for an inspection 1 to be done on my z3 by a specialist who came and collected it and left me a courtesy car.

So the "overheads" excuse doesn't stack up.

Whats worse is people probably pay it. I'd rather sacrifice the BMWSh and do it myself. Half hour and under £60 from opie.

As i extended the BMW warranty on my 335d i have no choice but to send it to the stealers.

Looks like i will be ringing around as mine's due in around 7k according to idrive.

I guess at the end of the day if it means my warranty stays intact then i won't have any trouble if one of my turbo's or other expensive parts like the injectors / fuel rail / pump goes.

My 645ci is also under warranty so was tied to the dealer. £218 inc vat. They found some play in the rear ball joints, which were replaced under warranty whilst it was there. The brake fluid service was £49 last year.
All in all I am happy with my local dealer, the costs seem on the lower end of what franchises charge and they have never given me any 'needs disks and pads' BS.

Are positive posts about a dealer allowed on here??

I paid 208gbp for an oil service for my 550 a couple of weeks ago and that is at Blackheath at 140 odd an hour. My car takes far more oil than yours so just shop aroundsmile

Just ask for a discount.

I asked a London franchise about the £115 deal and it took them all of about half a second to come down from the £200+ they quoted to £150 for an oil service on my 2002 530i, and another full second to fall to £125 all in if I booked in that week.

They will try it on though, cheeky monkeys.

Well, I told the chap it was far too expensive and he didn't offer anything else.

A rather sore point is that the garage in question offer "fixed price" servicing for the e46 for
£130.

It takes the same amount of time and the same amount of oil.

Bloody joke! I can see that people with the newer model would be less keen to go "non-bmw", but the whole thing is a bit bare faced marketing gone mad if you ask me...
