We bought a second hand car from a dealer and picked it up last Friday. I got it checked by a local garage that I know well and he advised that the head gasket was going/gone. When buying the car I negotiated a 6 month warranty in with it but have yet to receive the paperwork through the post.

Can I expect the garage I bought the car off to fix the probem (replace H-G) or will they refer me to the warranty? If its the latter could the warranty say no as it was like that when I bought it?

cheers in advance

Have you asked the dealer to rectify the problem?

Does the recipt / invoice state you purchased a 6 month warranty?

Craigy - we are in the process of that at the moment. I rang today but was asked to ring back Monday. I am just curious prior to that conversation smile

Matt - yes it does

So long as you have some details as to what it covers ie h/g, than I can't see you having a problem.
Either the paperwork is in order, but late in getting back to you.
Or the dealer didn't send it off in which case the garage should rectify the fault.
