oh the high's and low's of TVR ownership !

having spent yesterday at Austec getting new front AVO's (fantastic improvement) and a quick session on the rolling road to check all was well (162bhp from a 'standard' S3C ain't bad) I felt motivated to tackle the failed front fog lamps.

Having turned the ignition onto '2' about 6 or 7 times to get the dipped and main beam working, and failed miserably to trace the fault, I checked the coolant and oil, and discovered a small amount of petrol where the main rubber pipe joins the 'U' piece (beside the oil top-up cap).

I'm guessing that each time I turned the ignition it put some pressure on the fuel pump, but in the interests of not wishing to burn down the garage I've walked away.

Should I be worried, or do I simply wait for everything to settle down and start it up tomorrow night ?

Mike

Hi Mike,

This is slightly O/T from your actual topic, but since you mentioned your driving lights I thought I'd just check you'd seen this thread.

Forgive me if I'm being very patronising, but I just thought I'd double check that you weren't making the same assumptions that I was when I thought my fog lights weren't working!

Hopefully someone else can answer your petrol question.

Thanks Richard; they did work recently but I don't recall if that was on main beam; I'll give it a go, preferably with the engine running (small petrol leak has evaporated so I'll give it a go tonight having pushed it out the garage first !)

Sorry to hear about the petrol leaks guys.

I had a similar thing about 3 years ago - cracked fuel rail. Took David Geralds a couple of weekes to sort (see profile for the full'ish story).

Hope its not as serious.

Problem seemed to be caused by continuously turning ignition on without starting the engine; I'm guessing it was pressuring up each time ?

either way it's runnning fine without leaks now, but will get it checked out properly as you've suggested.
