So, it would appear that being keen to be seen as keen at work (or a push-over, depending on your point of view) I have ended up agreeing to drive the Wickes lorry in tomorrow's Northampton Carnival.

I've seen the lorry (a little 7.5 tonner - way beneath my HGV-ness) and it's all decked out in the back in an "undersea world" type theme. Apparently, there'll be a couple of kiddies on the back (they didn't say if they were disableds or speshul or anything) chucking sweets at the crowd as we trundle along at 2mph through the streets of Norfamtun. I'm in the same group as the Air Ambulance - although how they'll drive that at 2mph I don't know.

This will either be a right laugh and I'll cop off with the Carnival Queen, or the most boring day of my life thus far. I'll have to smile and st, won't I? And I'll probably have to have a shave tonight. And a bath.

Still, it's all for charidee, isn't it great mate?

What, in public? Carnival happy crapper, demonstrating the Wickes range of toilets?

I'm just worried I'll idly slip into "delivery mode", forget where I am, floor it and see some poor wheelchair-bound kid flying off the back with a handful of lollies, whilst I'm shouting "For fk's sake love, you could get a fking bus through there."

Ah yes, the old "all lorry drivers are serial killers" routine. How very droll.

That's HGV Class 1, artics. I'm only Class 2, rigids. Ooooooo yeah, rigid. You like that, don't you, eh, rigid?

Beep beep beep. That's me reversing - backing up. Getting closer. Beep beep beep. You love it, don't you? Rigid.

I am very much a people person. As long as these "people" shut the fk up and don't try and interact with me in any way. The bds.
