'interesting' car hire
Discussion
Does anyone have any recomendations for car hire firms which offer something a little more interesting than the norm for a reasonable price?
Myself and Mrs Darren9 tie the knot in early September and following the nuptuals plan to have a "mini-moon" (rather than a honeymoon, apparantly its a break of a few days) in the UK.
We would like to hire an interesting car for a couple of days, something sporty. I have looked at Caterhams and they seem very reasonable price wise but I'm worried that if it rains then we'll get wet and have a miserable time. Something like an elise may be a better option.
Most of the hire companies specialising in "performance" marques charge the earth and require deposits of 2k+ ... is there anyone out there who hire interesting/fun cars for reasonable rates.

As a new Caterham (RoadSport SV 150) owner, I'd say go for it.I've recently done a week in Devon, whcih was an 800 mile trip and a 400 mile trip to the New Forest. We had good weather (so the roof was down which was excellent) and bad days (with the roof up)
I would say that you'd probably need some ear plugs if it does rain and you put the roof up, my Caterham is quite loud (engine noise) over 50MPH, but other than that it's all good, it is also (I think - and I suffer from a bad back) one of the most comfortable cars that I've ever driven - even the trip from Kent to North Devon didn't cause me any pain.
There is an art to getting in with the roof up (expecialy if you are 6' 6" like me) and it is cosey inside!!!!
Go on, give the Caterham a go - it will but a very large smile on your face.

I'm hiring a Caterham in just over a month for a weekend and really really looking forward to it. I was initially looking for something just a bit different and there is a lot out there if you want. Plenty of classics, Yanks and what not.
I'd found a Corvette Stingray but wasn't old enough to rent that, also a 911 Targa for the same price as a Caterham http://www.classiccarhire.co.uk/cars/porsche.htm

I've used http://www.bespokes.co.uk/ and was very pleased with the service, and the pricing seemed competitive.
