So they are known to the useless pack of jobsworth twunts in Social Services that didn't ever tick the box marked these people don't deserve a child?

I really hope that the CamClegg stop cutting budgets for long enough to take a long look at cases like this, no amount of money will ever replace common sense and as most Social workers have little life experience when they qualify, little abilty to apply their own judgement, and now have to get up to 20 people (not an exageration) to attend a meeting at the same time just to fill in a form that has the issues a child is facing in it.

The last government learned lots from other child deaths, and dealt with it by making the paperwork more robust. fking useless morons, no child deserves to die, scum is scum, drug using scum is the worst kind, if you knew these people were putting the child at risk why did you not do something about it?

I will leave the joke of a CPS for another day, but if giving Methadone to a child that subsequently dies isn't at least manslaughter in the eyes of any decent person I don't know what is, in my country it would be murder and the horrible fkers would be burried up to their neck in concrete wondering when they were going to starve to death.

Not sure I follow you. You could easily instigate cuts, plus get the child (or children in these cases) looked after properly. And its very simple:

You take the child away from the parents. In this case, they are two drug addicts. Shouldn't be a simple problem. Should be a no brainer with two drug addict parents. Easy way to see if they are drug addicts is ask them for blood tests one a week until they proven that they've kicked the habit. And even then to screen them once a month for the next few years.

The result - the child services department of the council has one less child to look after, and a child is put with a decent loving family and given a chance in life.

Sorry angry late night rant, what I meant was I hope they stop just trying to save money and look for ways, like the one where you suggested, where things could be done more effectively.

Currently the beuracracy is mindboggling, and SS only want to know if certain boxes are ticked, and then the paperwork starts.....

If the family has a Social Worker there is a good chance they are on leave or long term sick when called upon too.

That's the second story I've read this week relating to giving a baby/ toddler methadone. The other one was a mum who dipped the babies dummy in methadone. Her partner knew she'd done it but didn't tell the doctors etc, she (the partner) was in trouble with the police already I think.

The baby has survived but he was dying when admitted and had fits, so they don't know if there'll be any long term damge yet.

This little girl was a pretty little thing, so sad, such a stty short life these little uns must suffer frown

"As a result of what has happened, users are being reminded of their responsibility for looking after their children, being educated about the safe storage of drugs and that very small amounts of methadone can kill a child. "

What the fk?! The services allow them to keep children?

I know I can be slightly right wing, but what on earth does someone have to do to get their kids taken away?

If someone has to be "reminded" about their responsibility for looking after children then I can't see any reason for them to be allowed to keep them. I mean, without wishing to sound trite, if someone mistreated a dog or needed to be "reminded" about looking after the dog, the RSPCA would be in there and have the animal away. Do we care so little for children that we let people such as this have and keep children?

Taking a child away doesn't stop them having another, enforced sterilisation may help and should be used more often.

So they become baby machines. There are tens of thousands of couple who want to adopt.

Be extremely average and white, with a good job, stable income, and a stable home.

And social workers will be the nastiest people alive.

Both myself and my sister were put on the at-risk-register when we were children because we fell over the wrong way. My mother was even warned that having another child (my middle sister) would trigger child services at the local council! I believe at one point a social worker was thrown out of our house for being a prat.

Frankly, that was exactly the first thing that came to my mind - I recall a story when I was training about parents who had their kid taken off them because the doctors misdiagnosed her condition - and I don't think they saw her for a few years - despite both being fine upstanding members of society at the time.

Social Services seem quite f***ed up really. I just can not understand the logic of these people.

There's the problem right there J&J. There is no logic to be found...
