I went to AFN today to replace my front lip spoiler and heard a GT3, which had a new sport exhaust fitted to it and boy, it sounded very HORRRNY.
The exhaust had two solenoid bolted onto each rear box which opens the inside up for more flow, and works by a switch inside the cabin (its where the PSM
button would normally be) which allows you to swap between sport mode/noise or original factory mode/sound level………………thought it was a great idea. Has anyone done this yet, or heard it yet, is it any good?????????….........apologies in advance if this topic has been covered already.

got a sports exhaust on my c4s. great noise, especially when the engine is cold, but does seem to tail off as the engine warms up. allegedly it adds 20 bhp to the car. dunno if this is true though. you can create a similar sound in a far less costly manner my sticking a scredriver through your silencer although i wouldn't recommend it.

I have one on my C4s acording to OPCs you cant retrofit the switch if you have the sports exhaust dealer fitted it is perminantly on(a frend wanted one retrofited) .I would be very supprised if it ads any extra BHP the extra noise builds between 2-3k revs and 5-6k revs the sound is sublime but v noisey. parking late at night would wake the neighbours so the courtesy switch comes into play and quietens things down.

I think loud is good especaly when you drive along the embankment or through any tunnel sometimes I even find myself opening the windows just to hear the Symphony of the exhaust note. Having Wagner ride of the valkyires at 11 on the volume helps at the same time.
On the Le Mans run you should go via rouen just for the tunnel!

Had a loooong chat with this fella! - he likes the Porscher system (he was very honest about this), but his system would be far too noisy for a GT3 on the track (like Goodwood etc...) Heard the video, sounded like it was a 600bhp le-mans car

Having picked up my 996 from Germany and done the factory tour I can confirm the following:

a) All engines are run at full power (hot) and if they are more than 5% over the stated BHP (320 on the current stock 996) or 10% under they are stripped down and the reason why they are not close to the stated BHP will be discovered. Every engine is made through the line from start to finish by the same person and that way they can keep an eye on crap staff. The over/under powered engine does not get put in a car simply because a car is only road legal if everything is as per the original vehicle spec given to various authorities (crash testing etc.).

b) The sports exhaust does not add any BHP to the car and cannot be retro-fitted with a noise button.

c) The sports exhaust is manditory in Essex as are wide wheels, white shoes and a high sperm count if you're a girl.

Edited because of naming and shaming rules; maybe fair comment but we have to be careful casting doubts about a guy's professional capabilities and naming them outright
Cheers

OPC Reading have also confimred that the Sports Exhaust can be retrofitted and that Guildford have done one and are about to do a second. They have checked with PCGB who do not recommend it due to noise levels etc.

The retrofitted exhaust includes the switch.

you can retrofit the exhaust with and without the switch....the seperate switch unit adds considerably to the labour cost.

i have gone back to standard silencers on my car as it enables me to do track days.

I intend to do lots of track days this year......but wanted the best of both world!. If I can do it with a flick of a switch, then its worth every penny
